Stacks for Starkey

[Los Angeles, California, October 20] The Delta Zeta Theta Rho chapter at California State University, Los Angeles hosted a “Stacks for Starkey” fundraising event at Applebees to raise money and awareness for our national philanthropy, the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Money was raised by selling tickets and filling up bingo cards with donors. A great success overall, this event included all members of our local community.

Stacks for Starkey is our first annual event where Delta Zeta sisters raise money for The Starkey Hearing Foundation Stacks for Starkey is an annual fundraiser where Delta Zeta sisters raise money by selling breakfast to earn money to donate to our partners the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Two of our own sisters have participated in Starkey mission trips, so the national philanthropy holds an especially important part of our hearts. Our sisters also decided to take the event a step further by creating money bingo sheets where we asked people of our community to donate small amounts of money to raise even more than what we predicted.

Our sisters, Isabella and Teresa, also shared their own experiences and explained how every single contribution does not go unnoticed. We are so privileged to be able to show our supporters that our own sisters had first hand experience. Talking us through their stories and personal videos really made a difference at our fundraiser and will leave a lasting impression to inspire our chapter to continue to give graciously.

Having held such a successful fundraiser, our chapter Vice President of Philanthropy, Crystal Orta, is so proud of the amount of change that will place in the world due to our contribution, she states,

“As Delta Zeta Zeta sisters, we were able to raise funds for the Starkey Hearing Foundation with a partnership with Applebee’s. Applebees provided a location, the breakfast plates, and beverages. The event was based around ticket sales and bingo cards. We as a chapter decided that each sister was required to sell two tickets. One sister went above and beyond raising $110 herself. The event would not have been successful without the support of Delta Zeta sisters, families, and the community. ”

Theta Rho feels very accomplished that we were able to raise almost $1,000 dollars for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. We are so honored to make such a great contribution to a cause that we care so deeply about.
